Donizetti Trio (2014)
The three members of the Donizetti Trio have been performing together since 2009. They are all on the teaching staff at the University of Auckland and are well-known on the Auckland performing scene as soloists, in the trio, also featuring in the annual NZ Music for Woodwind concerts in Wellington.Luca Manghi, originally from Italy studied in Paris and was Principal Flute of the Orchestra Filarmonica di Parma before winning first prizes in several international competitions.
Ben Hoadley, a graduate of Tanglewood and New England Conservatory in Boston, is the Director of NZ Music for Woodwind concerts. He has played for Boston Symphony, the Australian Brandenburg, the Melbourne Symphony and the NZSO.
David Kelly, originally from Christchurch was chosen as one of the first PwC Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artists and went on to study and work at the Australian Opera Studio in Perth. He is now the official répétiteur for NZ Opera and coach and accompanist for the University of Auckland and NZ Opera School.
The Trio will play works by Donizetti, Beethoven, Villa Lobos, Whitehead and Sgrizzi.
