Affetto is an award-winning early music ensemble, based in Auckland comprising five leading exponents of this wonderful music. The combination of soprano, harpsichord, cornetta, viola da gamba and theorbo provides an engaging range of sound colours and allows for flexibility of interpretation.

Formed in 2010, the group has quickly become known for innovative and uplifting programming, beauty of sound, and for bringing some often forgotten music to life in new ways. Affetto are all experienced teachers and between them individually and collectively, have presented workshops on choral music, baroque chamber music, viola da gamba and harpsichord masterclasses and baroque music for pianists.

Affetto's programme is called "A Play Upon Words" and features English composers as John Blow, Henry Purcell, Mathew Locke and Robert Johnson who brought forth music in the new style. The texts and musical settings from this era also often contained hidden meanings and this makes a highly entertaining programme of lively, poignant and uplifting music.
