New Zealand Chamber Soloists (2014)
Tauranga Musica have had this well-known group several times but while violinist Lara Hall is on maternity leave, her place will be taken by her sister, Amalia who has also played for the Society. The players are all members of the teaching faculty at University of Waikato and are recognized as leading NZ chamber musicians and soloists who have also performed many times internationally.Katherine Austin is Head of Piano at the University and is a distinguished chamber musician and recording artist. She is a solo recitalist and has appeared with many orchestras in NZ and internationally.
Amalia Hall is widely recognized as one of NZ’s foremost young musicians having won all of the national competitions in NZ as well as the Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy. She has had numerous appearances as soloist in NZ and internationally.
James Tennant is Head of Cello, chamber music and orchestral studies at Waikato and is a prominent concert soloist with high standing amongst the best teachers of cello in the world. By the age of 30 Tennant had performed as soloist and chamber musician in 16 countries and carries this extensive performance regime on today with the group.
The Chamber Soloists will play compositions by Mozart, Psathas and Dvorak.
