John Chen (2012)

John Chen needs no introduction having played to large audiences for Tauranga Musica on four previous occasions as soloist and in a duo with Julia McCarthy. In 2004 he won the prestigious Sydney International Piano Competition, the youngest ever winner. Continuing his studies and competition playing, John teamed up with Canadian violinist Luanne Homzy and American cellist Peter Myers to form the Saguaro Trio which won the Piano Trio section of the International Chamber Music Competition Hamburg in September 2009 from strong competition. John has performed concertos with many major orchestras and has recorded CD's for Naxos and Doulos Records.

John will play works by Mozart, Enescu, Dorothy Buchanan, and Schumann.
