Trio Amistad (2015)

Based in Wellington, these three experienced professional musicians recently formed Trio Amistad to explore repertoire for this unusual combination of instruments.

Flautist Rebecca Steel began her flute studies at the age of 11 and professional career with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra at age 16. She has worked with the Opera and Ballet Orchestra in Sydney and the Philharmonia in London.

Jane Curry completed a Doctorate in Musical Arts at the University of Arizona and has performed in many countries of the world and widely in the USA. Her travels have nurtured an interest in cultural and musical hybridism in classical repertoire.

Simon Brew holds an M Mus from the Artez Conservatorium in the Netherlands and has been a contract player for the NZSO, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Netherlands National Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia and Netherlands Blazers Ensemble.

The programme will perform compositions by François de Fossa, Schubert, Piazzolla, Sergio Assad and Manuel de Falla.
