The Leonari Trio (2012)This talented young group of musicians was formed at the University of Waikato where they were tutored predominantly by the New Zealand Chamber Soloists. All three have had individual successes at major competitions in NZ and in 2009 the Trio won the Pettman/ROSL ARTS International Scholarship which took them for a triumphant tour of the United Kingdom.
Maria Mo was born in South Korea and moved to NZ at an early age. She began learning music at age 5 and in 2009 completed her Masters of Music. Maria has had numerous competition successes and has toured as concerto soloist with Opus and Trust Waikato Symphony Orchestra and in 2010 presented a solo recital as guest artist at "Semaine Internationale de Piano" in Blonay, Switzerland.
Hilary Hayes made her concerto debut at age 11 with the Opus Chamber Orchestra and has since performed as soloist with several other orchestras including the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in 2010. She has been successful in many competitions, has been a member of the NZSO Youth Orchestra and in 2009 was selected as one of twelve violinists in the world to participate in the London Masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music.
Edward King regularly performs around NZ having had concerto appearances with the major orchestras including the NZSO, Opus and Christchurch Symphony. He has been a prizewinner at several competitions in NZ and abroad and was principal cellist for the NZ National Youth Orchestra.
The Trio will play works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Arensky.View Programme Notes
